Everyday Bread Loaf Recipe - Bread Machine

Whole Wheat - Classic and Healthy
I make this loaf nearly every day. It is near impossible to go wrong, and is simple. I have substitued many of the ingredients for similar ingredients and it always works well:

Ingredient Small Loaf Medium Loaf Large Loaf Subsitute Ingredients
water 2/3 cup 1 cup 1 1/3 cup milk
margarine 1 tbs. 1.5 tbs. 2 tbs. butter (I always use stick butter)
salt 1/3 tsp. 1/2 tsp. 2/3 tsp.
brown sugar 2/3 tsp. 1 tsp. 1 1/3 tsp. white sugar
whole wheat flour 1 cup 1 1/2 cups 2 cups
bread flour 1 cup 1 1/2 cups 2 cups
yeast 1 tsp. 1 1/2 tsp. 2 tsp.


For a treat, I throw in a handfull of half Cashew nuts. Do not use nuts that are large as these could cause the bread machine paddle to become caught between the bread machine side pan and a nut. This will break the belt in your machine. Delicious Macadamia nuts are how I found this little nugget out!
